Query: Al salamo allakeoum.
- Is abortion halal or not? and if yes, till how many months in the pregnancy?
- Are permanent contraception methods halal or not?

Abortion is haram by general consensus once pregnancy is confirmed except for a lawful excuse: when a medical report authorized by a group of specialized doctors says that keeping the baby puts the mother’s life at risk, abortion is permissible.
As for contraception, it’s permissible if it there are valid legitimate reasons according to Islamic sharia. As for the method, it’s decided by the doctors.
