I’m looking to diversify my investment portfolio and am currently invested in Vanguard’s VTSAX index fund, which I’ve found to be a solid choice.
I’m curious to know if there’s an equivalent or similar fund offered by Fidelity that aligns with the same investment strategy and low-cost structure.
Specifically, I came across FIOFX, and I’m wondering if it would be a comparable option to VTSAX in terms of performance, expense ratio, and overall portfolio composition.
For those familiar with both funds, do you think FIOFX is a good alternative, or would you recommend another Fidelity fund that mirrors VTSAX more closely?
Your insights and experiences would be greatly appreciated!
JoeFZROZ has no fee and its performance is a bit better than VTSAX. If this is a taxable account, an ETF like ITOT might be better
ChristopherFSKAX or you can get VTI (the etf version of VTSAX). FZROX is also pretty similar.
FrankYou can buy VTI at Fidelity, which is the same thing as VTSAX in a different wrapper, for no fees.
The Fidelity mutual fund equivalents are FZROX or FSKAX.
There are a lot of VTSAX clones these days that are just as good, so don’t fixate on VTSAX.
AlexNo that’s a target date retirement fund you mentioned for fidelity it would fzrox
SeanFSKAX is Fidelity’s equivalent mutual fund, or you could always just buy VTI (Vanguard’s Total Stock Market ETF), which trades without transaction fees at Fidelity.
JasmineThe closest Fidelity equivalent to VTSAX is FSKAX. However, you can also buy VTI from Fidelity, which is the exact same list of holdings as VTSAX.
VTI is the ETF version of VTSAX.
MeganVTSAX is like Kleenex, a brand name that has become interchangable with a generic.
The “VTSAX and chill” message simply means “invest in total (or broad) market index funds”.
VTSAX is one option but not the only option and I’ve seen more newer investors misunderstand the advice as “VTSAX or nothing” which can cause them to sit out the game longer than they should.
VTSAX is Vanguard’s low fee total market index mutual fund. It has an initial $3K buy in.
It should only be purchased at Vanguard.
VTI is Vanguard’s low fee total market ETF.
It can, like all ETFs, be purchased via Vanguard or any other brokerage (Fidelity, Schwab, etc) for no additional fees.
FSKAX is Fidelity’s low fee total market index mutual fund. It has no minimum buy in. It should only be purchased at Fidelity.
FZROX is Fidelity’s no fee total market index mutual fund. It has no minimum buy in. It should only be purchased at Fidelity.
It is close to same coverage as other total market funds but has fewer companies within it.
SWTSX is Schwab’s low fee total market index mutual fund. It has no minimum buy in. It should only be purchased at Schwab.
SCHB is Schwab’s low fee total market index ETF. It has not miniumum buy in.
It can, like all ETFs, be purchased via Schwab or any other brokerage (Fidelity, Vanguard, etc) for no additional fees.
If you’re looking at an employer sponsored plan, you may not always have a total market index fund, in those cases instead look for a low fee S&P 500 Fund.
