I forgot my shower running on hot for 1hr and 25 mins. Is this gonna cost a lot? I was about to get in and I got distracted.
I’m trying to understand the impact on my utility bill, particularly in terms of water and energy usage.
Does the cost vary depending on factors like water heater type (gas vs. electric) or the average water temperature in my area?
I’d appreciate any insights or personal experiences on how much this might add up in terms of expenses.”
LindaI doubt it will make a huge difference. You’re lucky you didn’t have a flood!! For the rest of the month take shorter showers and you’ll be fine!!
AnnetteUnfortunately, it is not only the cost of water but the cost of heating it.
LaraFor something minor and innocent like this, I try to reframe my mindset by reminding myself that people choose to pay for various lessons all the time, and this is one I have now paid for.
Hope this helps!
JoAnnIt’s a 1 time oops! Once you do something like that, you’ll be wary of ever doing it again.
AngelaShould not kill you but a running toilet doubled ours.
EvelynNot as bad as you would think. I left my hot water running for two days in my shower. Cost me an extra $30 or so on the gas and water bill.
It wasn’t on full blast.
LindaSeems like your hot water heater would run out of hot water. Then you’d be running cool water.
KatrinaI accidentally left my sprinkler on for 2 hours one time and my bill went up $20.
JoAnnIf you cut your shower time by 3 minutes a day, in a month it will be like it never happened
CindyWell, you filled your imaginary pool…I left my car running for 2 1/2 hours once when I got distracted….
MicheleADHD yup that’s something I would do. Water the yard overnight , over filled the pool, over flowed the camper water tank. Distraction should be my middle name.
Yes, my phone timers help remind me, but it still happens occasionally.
I never turn water and leave the room. This could be me
KimIt can’t be as bad as the time I forgot my drip line in the garden was running. I looked out the window the next dayand was like huh, I didn’t know it rained last night.
It didn’t, it was the damn hose
