Learn how to grill pizza with these easy steps. Plus pizza recipes.
Instead of the oven, fire up the grill and get ready to make some fabulous pizza.
First, gather your ingredients
- You will need one pizza dough (sold in many grocery stores or homemade).
- pizza sauce.
- mozzarella (or other gooey, delish cheese) and.
- whatever other toppings you want.
Be sure you gather everything before beginning because the pizza will cook quickly!
Next, spread out your dough into an oval
You want the crust to be very thin. If necessary, sprinkle with a little additional flour to keep the dough from getting too sticky while spreading it.
Then, preheat your grill
If using a gas grill, set the burners to medium and let it heat up. If you are using charcoal, set up to grill with the briquettes burned down. Once the grill is warm, slide the dough onto the grill.
A pizza paddle works great for this, but a baking sheet can do the trick as well.
Grill, baby, grill!
Cook the pizza for 2-3 minutes, until it begins to bubble. Then, flip it over and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Flip again, and then spread on your toppings, starting with sauce, then any proteins or veggies, and, finally, cheese.
Close the lid of the grill and let the pizza cook for another couple of minutes or until the cheese melts.
Remove the pizza from the grill, and cool out
Allow it to cool for about 10 minutes before cutting. When it comes time to slice it, use a pizza cutter to cut it in half lengthwise and then cut into vertical slices.
