In Islam… Do the Children Are Punished for What Their Parents Committed?

Query: What is the Islamic opinion in the relationship between generations. I mean: do the children are punished for what their parents committed? and what is the interpretation of this verse (وليخش الذين لو تركوا من خلفهم ذرية ضعافا خافوا عليهم فليتقوا الله وليقولوا قولا سديدا).

One of the names of Allah (Glory be to Him) is ” The Just” and one of His attributes is “Mercy“.

Out of His justice, Allah (Glory be to Him) says in the Glorious Qur’an: “no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another” (17:15). Parents’ sins cannot be shouldered by their children. Allah says in the Glorious Qur’an: “Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds” (74: 38)

Out of His mercy, Allah (Glory be to Him) will raise the offspring of the believer to the same degree as him, even if they are lower than him in terms of good deeds, so as to bring joy to his heart.
