Okay, just checked my credit report and see some accounts with a single 30 day or 60 day late payments from 2020 on each account (this was when I was let go from my job during COVID).
Do I call the company directly to ask them to clear it, or do I call the credit agencies directly? Or do I just dispute this online?
Wanting to get this squared away in the best and quickest way possible. Three of the four accounts are paid in full and the 4th account is my student loan that I finally have under $6k!
TIA for any advice!
BillIf you paid a cc late, there is nothing to dispute. Late payments stay on your report even after you pay off the debt.
For student loans, if the payment was missed during the period where payments were supposed to be suspended, you can definitely dispute that. Many loan servicing companies were reporting that in error at the beginning.
You can check also: Has anyone else focused on debt rolling by remaining balance and monthly payments rather than interest rate?
LynneMy advice: If you are now current with these accounts. And since it was during covid.. Call the company directly and request a goodwill adjustment. AKA Ask will they remove the 30 day lates. IF they tell you to dispute with the CB. Then they are just trying to blow you off and they will not do it. The CB only report what the account holder tell them to report.
JuleIt’s going to be very difficult to remove it, especially if they are legitimate.
