(small and maneagable house, lakeside, private community, close to favorite city)

I canā€™t see a way to do both without seriously downgrading our life now by moving into a smaller home and trading into older vehicles. My spouse is very against this idea.

And here I am, thinking about selling all the houses so I don’t have to deal with them šŸ˜† traveling the world, or the US in a nice RV sounds like my “dream” home.

I moved into my ā€œdream homeā€ in 2021. I now want a different dream home. Retirement is always the most important of the two. A house is just a house.

Depends on what is important to you. If youā€™re planning on traveling quiet a bit then the lakeside home wonā€™t be important.

I live in my dream home and I would work 5 more years if thatā€™s what it took for me to be there.

Too many variables. Why is it the dream home? Is it bigger? More expensive to maintain? Different location? Can you age in place there? Does it have a large number of stairs, can it be modified to be handicapped accessible? I wouldn’t work for 5 extra years if I would end up paying even more money in the long run for the house

Only you can decide which one you value more.

The dream home thing is kind of overrated in my opinion, but itā€™s all about what you find value in. We canā€™t tell you whatā€™s valuable to you.

I retired (quit my job) at 51 and wish I had done it sooner. Life is so short and you might be surprised at how little money you actually ā€œneedā€ to live a very happy life.

I personally value freedom. I would retire 5 years sooner. I actually sold my dream home to be able to quit working earlier.

Depends. On many factors. Like your age. If you’re 95, I suggest not waiting 5 more years.
