Hi everyone, I’m looking for some healthy and filling snack/lunch ideas to take to work. While my workplace does have a cafeteria, buying food from there can be quite expensive. I’m hoping to find some budget-friendly options that will keep me satisfied throughout the day.

Do you have any favorite recipes or suggestions for nutritious snacks and lunches that I can easily prepare at home and take to work? I’m open to any ideas, whether they’re quick and simple recipes or meal prep options that can last me for a few days.

Thank you for your help and suggestions!

Guacamole packs (they’re like 2Tbsp worth) mixed with some cottage cheese. I add tomatoes if I have them, then use pita chips to dip!

A huge salad with protein of your choice from leftovers. I do this every day. Leftover chicken, eggs, feta, whatever I have on hand, I put into a huge salad. Super filling, cheap and healthy.

Chickpeas are a great source of protein and fibre.

Add them to salads, make homemade hummus, purée and add to nut butter to reduce fat content but boost protein, make vegan “egg salad” for sandwiches etc.

Chickpea flour chocolate chip cookies are also fantastic for a sweet tooth and source of protein and fibre.

Roasted chickpeas with whatever sweet or savoury spice you like.

One of my favs is 100 calorie English muffin, split, toasted. Then at lunch spread with nut butter and sliced strawberries( instead of jelly) my adult pb&j!

I grab those small tuna or chicken salad with crackers packs – can add grape tomatoes, celery, etc.
                About a dollar, + or –

Soups can be rich and filling.

Tortilla style roll ups or pinwheels are fun and can feel fancy.

Invest in a nice travel container for leftovers. It will make even common items seem special.

I buy salad bowls from Walmart 2.97 a piece. I also picked up some individual fruit trays 3.97 apiece. Take a shake or two and throw in a protein bar. it’s cheaper and better for me than the cafeteria/grill at my work place.

Hummus and pretzels or veggies to dip. Hard boiled eggs. Greek yogurt. Cheese and crackers. Peanut butter and crackers or apples. Leftovers from supper the night before. Pb and banana sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread.

I used to bring dinner leftovers and heat them in the microwave. You could also use a thermos. Hot food always feels more satisfying somehow.

Depending how much time you have, I love leftovers (when I only have a fifteen for lunch) or I enjoy snack meals if longer. That could be cracker sandwiches or veggies with hummus or fruit and meat sticks.

I’ve been buying rotisserie chicken to turn into sandwiches/wraps. Egg salad and veggies are also great. This week I made a big pasta salad on Sunday evening and I’ll be eating off it for several days’ lunches.

I like to make salads with cottage cheese, fruit and maybe tuna or chicken. Sometimes I will buy the cooked lentils from traders joes and add that. I will bake more healthy muffins, cake mix and pumpkin without any added sugar.

I also really like goat milk yogart with a little honey and some walnuts.

I meal prep salads for my husband and I. Change them up and use what’s on hand and what’s on sale. If tomatoes aren’t on sale or reasonable, use red peppers, etc. Healthy snacks are any snacks that aren’t processed or contain added sugars. YouTube research.

Left overs are big in my house. Many can be use differently. Tacos will become taco salad. Grilled chicken can be wraps or shredded for chicken salad sandwich. Pinto beans will be turned into Refried beans then become burritos or just topped with cheese.

Chili as soup or as chili dogs or chili mac.
