My family has always used USAA because they are very easy to work with, but the premium is $6,260. I went through a brokerage to find out what else is out there and they found Sage Sure/Sure Choice with a premium of $3,604.

I’m nervous to go the cheaper route because I have no knowledge about this company, but USAA is so pricy. Does anyone know anything about Sure? Is this a cost I just deal with?

      Thanks!

Our active duty friends live in Seabrook, TX and were quoted near $1K a month by USAA.

I’d recommend calling around to some local contractors and ask which insurance companies are the easiest to work with. We had State Farm and while cheaper, EVERY contractor in our area that I spoke to said that State Farm had one of the worst reputations for paying out on home repairs. They all listed USAA in the top 3, so that’s who we swapped to.

I cringe when I see some people (not saying you, OP) solely concerned about premiums without regard to reputation. You’ll be glad you paid a little more if you have to make a claim and the cheaper insurer doesn’t want to pay out.

I’m also feeling the squeeze of prices with USAA. I haven’t been as impressed with their customer service the last time I had a house claim. I should have fought harder but was swamped with work and it just was too time sucking to call in. I’m in Dallas.

This is such a good reminder I should shop around. I just added my 16 year old to our policy also. So between insuring 3 cars (full Coverage) and our house it’s outrageous/- it just went $1000.00 a month with bundling.

We really like State Farm personally.

They’re the largest property/casualty and auto insurance company in the US. They also have great multi line coverage discounts, and really good rates.

But if you live in a high risk area (flooding, or wild fires, etc) they might not offer coverage there.

USAA isn’t going broke the next time a disaster hits Houston. Just keep that in mind.

We just closed on a new house (SoCal) and USAA was 2x – almost 3x more expensive than other companies.

I’m also unsure what to do bc I want a solid company that will actually pay out on claims but they are ridiculously more (and offered lower coverage too! $440k rebuild vs others offering 950k) we are checking out a insurer called Hippo.

Hoping I don’t end up regretting it.

I also have USAA but they’ve always been outstanding with any claims in the past I hesitate to even get quotes from other insurance companies but I also think USAA is expensive.
