I did that budget thing on Etsy that someone else here posted. It said I had 143.00 a week to save. However, I didn’t include misc. I’m on SS, and work part time just to get things that come outta nowhere. Like part of my electric lines went out.  350. Total, and I’m lucky on that price. The guy is coming back next week, when I have saved up enough money.  A pipe breaks, something wrong with my A/C. These are things that have happened to me lately. I can’t even save a thousand dollars, because things keep popping up.

Here’s my worst dilemma.  1. What do you guys think of pet insurance ?  I have 3 cats. Vet bills are terrible. 2 are very healthy, 1 is 10 years old. I was paying a reasonable amount, 50.00 for all three, with 50% coverage.  They’re going out of business. I can’t find anything close, and they want more for the 10 year old. Which is silly, because at 10, I wouldn’t go spending thousands of dollars on him just to keep him alive.

      2. This is absurd . Dental insurance and dental care. I do go to a health department dentist that I get a discount. I got some dental insurance because it was advertised as only 45.00 a month.  I need a root canal, and the health department doesn’t cover it.

So, I went in the meantime with a dental plan under AARP, because it’s only 30.00, as it’s a hmo. I go see the dentist, and my copay is still 899.00. So now I have two dental insurance plans. I can’t use them together. (I checked).  I think the HMO is cheaper, since I need a root canal. The health department doesn’t take the HMO plan.

I didn’t get a price for the root canal on my regular insurance.

I need the one I can most save on.  I thought I’d get the root canal done first, and then cancel that one.  But it’s cheaper a month.

So, I’m paying for two dental insurance plans right now, which comes to 80.00.  This is crazy !!

I’m sorry if I’m going in circles here.

On a positive note though, I cancelled my life insurance policy. Not needed, I have preplanned in place.

Also, thank god I have good health insurance .

If it’s not an important tooth, just have the tooth pulled. That’s what I did.

It was the best decision ever to spend $200 over 2000 for the root canal and the crown.

Cancel both dental insurances and open up a special account and take what you’re paying for dental insurance in that account every month and then you will be surprised how much you will accumulate to help with dental expenses or other expenses such as copays for prescriptions..

I did this when I retired and have added to it when I had extra money. We use that only for dental and precriptions, etc. With our insurance we usually don’t have to pay for medical care. I would drop pet insurance especially if you older pets and some with chronic illness for which there is no cure.

A lot of times it’s a scam. The insurance costs more that what you would pay outright.

Don’t miss: Has anyone felt the need to go back to work full-time due to the unexpected increases in their monthly expenses?

I have a Medicare Advantage plan with dental and Delta dental. I am allowed to use them together. It goes to the BCBS plan first and then Delta. Maybe check around.

See if you auto insurance has a pet insurance plan. Check with Lemonade also for pet insurance.

I know, silly name. My daughter has her renters insurance through them.
