I recently decided to get 10lbs of potatoes and make my own hashbrowns rather than get 2lbs for nearly the same price (and that’s the generic brand). And they’re so much better/fresher.

I work so much, that I’m exhausted when I come home. I don’t have it in me to cook. For ages now, I’ve just picked up fast food. When my last trip to McDonald’s cost us $30, I finally had enough…

It’s not as cheap as cooking, but healthy choice steamer meals are less than $3 each, and way healthier. I’ve lost a few pounds already, too.

liquid coffee creamer is now dry creamer, or a splash of milk, or a piece of hard candy like a starlight mint or butterscotch disc, melted in the hot coffee.

I’m teaching myself how to cook Asian foods. It’s gotten so expensive to go out that I’m trying to make going out into a special occasion activity. I live in a very small town, so the closest restaurants are almost 30 minutes away.

The last time my roommate and I went to the Chinese buffet it was $17.99 each plus drinks and tip.

We ended up spending almost $50, more if you count the fuel to drive there and back.

Make my own home additions. 😅 we added a new room, bathroom, and mudroom for about 28k. With a contractor we were looking at 85k.

Been making my own potato chips. One or two potatoes makes almost the equivalent of a bag full. Enough for a couple evening’s snack for one.

Also, chocolate bars too pricey so been making more sweets at home. Pretty much cook from scratch for meals fir years now but I’m getting in to making everything now. Homemade bread , rolls, buns, pizza.

Garden so make my own salsa and sauce and can it. Make my own soups and seasoning mixes.

Things I’m going to try making are donair meat, tortillas and crackers.

I live in China where we can get bread, cheese, and butter but they often aren’t the best quality, must be ordered online, or only carried by a few stores in town which are far from my home. I started with making my own focaccia bread and gnocchi.

I later progressed to tortillas and soft cheeses. I’m about to start making sandwich bread and hard cheeses.

I can get most western foods that I want here but it is always very expensive and you have to watch out for fakes.

I just bought 85 lbs of apples from a farm for cheap. I have apple chips drying in the dehydrator. I just finished my first batch of apple butter and will be starting applesauce tomorrow. Along with getting more apple chips in the dehydrator.

The other day I made biscuits and dog treats.

Febreeze. It takes like one ounce of fabric softener to make a whole bottle of fabric refresher. If you buy a 64 oz bottle of fabric softener you can make 64 bottles of refresher.

Plus, things like Alfredo, cream of anything soups that I don’t can.
