Consumer Reports can be a start however sometimes I feel they bias.

Go to mfg websites and look at comments. Perhaps call repair man and ask what brand repairs the most and why..

I have always used Whirlpool appliances as they are top rated, listed in the top 3 as most reliable, and are made in the US. All we have used in going on 40 years of marriage.

But if you goggle top rated appliances you can find many sights that give reviews, and you can check with repairmen too. Whirlpool also makes KitchenAid (also in top 3) and they make Maytag.

Bosch is also top rated for refrigerator’s, cooktop’s and dishwahsers.

Consumer Reports is the only trustworthy source. I don’t buy anything big without checking it.

My bf swears by YouTube product reviews. It takes time to find the ones that shows the exact item you’re looking for but he says they’re really useful to watch as ppl put products to the test on video so you see first hand how the item will fit your preferences and needs.

He also looks there first when something needs a minor repair.

I went to an appliance outlet, most had some imperfections but the one I bought had a scratch on the side that was covered by the counter, $2325 down to $1099. I checked the reviews online and consumer reports to make sure it was a good model.

                      Look at your current appliances.

What features do they have that you like?

For fridge measure the current fridges opening. Leave a 1 1/2 or more space for air all around the new fridge. You do not want to suffocate your new fridge. Dumbest is best for any appliance.

Microwaves when there is backsplash involve will sku the measurements off on a new one.

Reviews weather it be from a manufactory web site, store, big box store or even consumer reports.

Weigh all the negative/ one stars to the 2 stars and up. And also think those reviews are from a single old lady to a family of 10.

Even research if there is a tech in your area for the x brand name appliances.

We love watching you-tube videos for reviews and also reading Amazon Reviews. Just pay attention if the reviewer on Amazon is getting paid for writing them (I think Amazon mentions them as top-rated reviewers- but not all are paid).

And then check out the local stores where they offer the same make, model but at a deeper discount.

We never shop in one visit, at least not at the start of the month. Towards the end of the month, stores usually set the sales and saleperson has to meet their target so they do the best to give you all information you need for various makes and models with the offers.
