My husband provides 100% for us, but I would love to be debt free within 2 years. I currently have student loans for my RN and a card for furniture.

I know I can go back to the hospital to work, but that’s not feasible for my family. My twins are 4, I have had the worst time with sitters and Nannie’s. Plus my husband drives an 18 wheeler so loads are so unpridictable and I never really know when he will be home.

The twins are in pre-k through the school system so I can work 8-2, other than that, I’m with my kids.

Also, I drive a Yukon xl Denali, but I can use the extra car to do deliveries which is a Nissan versa.

HELP! I really want to pay off this furniture and my student loans, preferably before I die. I’m in my 40’s.

Get a work from home nursing job. They are out there and pay well.

I know you can’t do a schedule but maybe you can be prn somewhere and pickup when you want or maybe a teaching position in person or online or agencies.

I wouldn’t do any job that doesn’t require a rn degree you worked for you’ll make way more on the hr than instacart or anything.

I’ve done instacart before and it’s not worth it anymore the market is to oversaturated with crappy shoppers and alot of order will be $35 for a 2-batch order with like 50 miles of driving.

Maybe your husband stays home with the kids? It sounds like you might have the greater earning potential.

I delivered for Instacart a few years ago and I really enjoyed it. I felt like they paid well and as long as I communicated with the customer, they usually tip pretty well. The only thing is that you are a contractor so you HAVE to put money aside for taxes.

I lived in a smaller community when I did it so the deliveries weren’t far.

All in all I think it depends on the area that you are in.

Maybe try joining a local group for drivers and see how it is before starting!

Worth a look: I was thinking about trying out Walmart+. What is everyone experience?

Was in the same boat, but single. Try for a home health/private duty/job. The flexibility is great, to set your own hours.

Even better if it’s cash paying.

You can apply for per diem hospital jobs that allow you to pick up shifts only on days you know you have child care help.

Much easier to plan and live life that way.

For me, Door Dash is the answer. I can drive when I want to. All I have to do is pick up an order and drop off. I make good money. You do need to keep record of your daily mileage when you drive for Door Dash along with keeping your receipts that you receive while Door Dashing. These are to apply towards the federal taxes when you file for the income tax. Unfortunately, no one tells you this.

But other than this, I love Door Dashing. I average $15-20+ an hour. I also live in tourist area year around.

My son does shiftkey it’s sort of a sub system for nurses. Jobs are posted, you go in and pick what you want and the rate of pay you will accept. They then accept or decline. It’s last minute as you are filling a last minute need but because of that it pays well. ( He usually picks up the day before up to an hour before shift start)

The downside, because you are a fill in, and making much more per hour than the regular staff you are often given the tougher pts. Not always, but often.

Upside is you pick where and when you will work.

I once had a great boss in the hospital imaging department. I worked 9-3 the hours my kids were in school and only Monday -Thursday. It was great. I’m an RN.

Working at home is working. You would not be able to care for kids.

                            I would pursue school nursing.

Part time jobs with reliable daycare for 1-2 days a week.

Home IV therapy is flexible I had a friend do that.

Advice nurse I had a friend who did that from home 5-10pm.

Some emergency departments are so understaffed they might be willing to offer you your hours.

                            There are options.

Also, don’t do a delivery job, especially if you need to use your own car. You’ll barely cover your expenses and will have to deal with all the added wear and tear and maintenance on the car.

Look for a job with the school system! School nurse is the first thing that comes to mind but there’s also cafeteria workers, clerical positions, teachers aid and substitute teachers.

                                  1. Per diem allows you to work when you can.
                                  2. A position in a school would give you the hours that you kids are in school.
                                  3. Work from home.
                                  4. Just work part-time somewhere during the hours your kids are in school.
                                  5. Does the school have a daycare the kids can attend after 3:00?
                                  6. Have you posted anywhere that you are looking for an after school nanny for a few hours?
                                  7. Nights? Weekends?

It honestly doesn’t pay well especially after you loose 30% to self employment taxes. Then you have gas, wear and tear on your car and the required commercial insurance because your normal insurance will not pay if you are making money using your vehicle at time of accident.
