Just got my renters insurance renewal (Alabama). My policy went up from $42/month to almost $90! I’m with Homesite by progressive now. Any suggestions on cheaper?

That seems really expensive? We pay $20/mo through homesite/progressive but we have more than just minimum coverage.

Girl what kind of policy do you have?! Renters insurance should only be like $10/month.

            You need to shop around.

You can’t compare your insurance cost to others. There are so many variables they take into account.

Reach out to an independent insurance broker. They will shop your policy with 30+ carriers. You don’t pay them anything.

All insurances have gone up! All you can do is call around to a broker and see if they can find you a cheaper premium.

Wow i just brought renters on Friday from State Farm $144 a year of course it also depends on how much you select but that seems excessive.

I use Lemonade! Renters insurance in CA is only $5.00 and some change.

I maintain a home for my handicapped relative. The insurance on it went up $350 this year.

I almost fainted, but I paid it because I have to have insurance on it and because it has a wood stove in it, I can’t find anyone that will insure it for less.

Explore these too: I just got the bill for our two vehicles and umbrella insurance – but..

It upsets me too. Companies are using inflation as an excuse to raise prices.

Most increases are DOUBLE what they were.

Why isn’t this considered Price Gouging?

We pay $17 a month with Travelers. Ours hasn’t gone up in over 12 years.

I’ve noticed many of our bills taking a jump. This month alone my garbage went up $20 & my electric rate went up 120%.

We’re on a journey to try to lower our bills & really be conscience of everything we do.

My son pays like $15 a month for renters insurance. I have no clue what company he uses.. but it’s super cheap!

Safeco is who I have. Also my auto. I researched and they were the cheapest. I suggest calling them. Can’t hurt to call.

                                I bet they are cheaper.

My son is a newer driver and he has totaled two of my vehicles. No problems settling my auto claims.

All insurance has been going up like 10% a year for the past three years. It is ridiculous. We sold one vehicle to better deal with the increase in car insurance.

Everybody’s insurance went up. Rent also way up. Taxes on homes up. Everyone’s mortgage up. Things just keep getting more expensive.

Call them and ask them to verify. That’s can’t be accurate for renters insurance. If it is, call someone else … anyone else.

This sounds like house insurance to me and high at that. Are you renting a house? Are you in an area that is prone to natural disasters? Have you made claims on your insurance?

Definitely shop around check the monthly rate and the yearly rate. When you find the right one cancel your old policy and then activate your new one.
