I had a can of petite diced tomatoes in tomato juice and 1/3 cup of elbow macaroni cooked in it. I like it. It’s very filling.

Add ground beef and we (where I am) call it goulash. A staple during my 70s childhood. Good on you!

Stewed tomatoes and elbows are tasty too.

50 cent can of black beans. About 25 cents for two baked tortillas. A tomato and a pepper from the garden. Dinner.

Don’t miss: What to do with cherry tomatoes that are going to go bad if I don’t use asap?

My Gram used to make “Creamettes and tomatoes for me. Still Delicious and I still love it. Add a little butter for more deliciousness.

My daughter just made and amazing salad with left over fresh tomatoes given to us by our neighbors, left over onions(we used on our burgers 2 nights ago) and a can of chick peas that was given to us. It was wonderful!!

Don’t forget to take a look at: I have one leftover grilled chicken breast. What can I make to stretch that for a dinner for 5?

We ate this a lot when I was a kid but used moms home canned tomatoes which made it really cheap.

When using up on odds and ends with what you already have in the house can be very surprising and tastes good.

One of my favorite go-to meals is just elbow noodles cooked and some plain tomato sauce. Just enough sauce to lightly coat the noodles, not swimming. Add some salt (and pepper if you like) to taste.

Would you also like to explore: OK, My frugal friends have you priced out dishes lately? How CRAZY expensive!

One of my favorite dishes is diced canned tomatoes, garlic, S&P cooked in a little bacon grease over macaroni noodles.

My mom used to brown onions and elbow macaroni in a pan and then add water to boil until softened. We added ketchup and that was dinner many nights. I still make it a couple times a year.
